The Need For Plumbing Vent Piping In Minnesota

November 17, 2009

Plumbing Vent Piping

What is vent piping for plumbing? Vent piping for plumbing is pipe that is connected to the drains of your plumbing pipe.  Do your drains clog easily and the pipes need to be roto rootered or cleaned?  If this is the case, there may either be no venting or a plug in the plumbing vent piping.

The Purpose Of Plumbing Vent  Piping

Do plumbing drain pipes really need to be vented in Minnesota? Do plumbing drains get clogged easier and in turn need to be cleaned or roto rootered due to a lack of plumbing venting. These are common questions we at Roger Vadnais Plumbing get asked.  In order to meet Minnesota plumbing code, plumbing drains need to be vented.  It works like this: have you ever held your finger on the end of a straw and the water stayed in the straw when lifted out of the water?  If so, you have demonstrated the theory and need for plumbing venting.  When the finger is removed, there is now a vent at the top of the straw to pull the water to the bottom.  Similar to plumbing, when there is a lack of venting, the material in the drains won’t flow as well causing a plug in the pipes and  the need for a drain cleaning or roto rootering.
