Why Does The Septic Pump Alarm Turn On?

July 23, 2010

Septic Systems

Is the septic tank’s alarm sounding?  In the White Bear Lake and surrounding areas there are many households that have septic tanks and lift pumps that handle sewage.  There are two floats that are attached to a lift pump in the septic tank: The float that causes the pump to engage and the septic alarm float.  The first float signals the pump to turn on when the tank fills to a certain level.  When the septic tank gets too full either the pump isn’t turning on or the drainage system isn’t working properly.  When one of these occur, the septic alarm will turn on in order to warn the structure in which the septic pump serves.
